I’m Managing a Loved One’s Illness/Injury

If you have an immediate family member with a serious health condition that needs you to take care of them, you may be eligible for a leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Family Medical Leave is unpaid leave that provides job protection for up to 12 weeks for your own serious health condition or to provide care for an immediate family member with a serious health condition.

For more information on how to initiate an FMLA claim click here.

For more information on FMLA, you can view the Leave of Absence Policy on Powell’s company intranet, Intersect.

Preparing for your time-off

Initiate a Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) claim with Unum at 866.779.1054 within 7 days of your need to take leave due to an immediate family member’s injury/illness.

Unum will send you a FMLA packet to be completed by your family member’s healthcare provider and returned to Unum.  Be sure to submit the required documentation by the due date or your claim may be denied.
